Consult your name to advertise!
"How did you meet?" Have been made, or was it vice versa? " – Robert Redford to Brad Pit, Thurs Spy
Crook 101: The best way to earn someone's trust is to make them believe that you have contacted. Scammers love to potential prospects contact with them.
Now, it seems that advertisers have figured in an interesting way to attract potential victims of its website in a way that is much more easier than sending billions of spam email.
The idea is simple: take the name of a person in places like LinkedIn, Facebook and other social networks and put in a website. Made when in fact, if Google has indexed.
Wait a bit, and there are good chances that this person Google. Much people (including myself) have a "Warning" from Google in its name that sends them to update the list of links to new pages that mention his name.
Everyone likes to see where it is mentioned that, so you can click the link. And voila! They arrive at the page of the advertiser. In some cases, I saw the name It was removed from the page (but still in Google's cache). But no matter: when the person arrived at the work site from spammers is – Received your message in front of you, and perhaps dig deeper into your site trying to understand what the connection is yours.
There are several advantages of this method. First, it is not limited by the message: open web page may have the word debt credit card and mortgage assistance without the fear of provoking an anti-spam. Also, people pay more attention to the page, because I think that has to do with them.
I do not understand the statistics of marketing spammers, but I am sure that the infamous spam text "came to our attention that you are in urgent need of financial assistance, much like a sincere message staff, is a great success. But this message must pass through spam filters and include a real email address and a correct surname first /. A page web is not necessary to avoid spam filters and has the correct name. Also, they get interesting information about the visitor: browser version, the location intellectual property and, of course, the name you want (in the "reference" which is sent automatically by the browser on the website).
Oh, and of course – it's cheap. Simply put up a nice website, and wait for Google to do the rest. No purchase of mailing lists mail and no cost of sending spam (which is the one with the hiring of a zombie botnet for a few days).
For aspiring scammers who are reading this, you must understand that this is not foolproof. Obviously, it requires people to do a search on the name of vanity, first (but also people who work dates from Google, their parents or teachers). It also requires time – days, weeks or months (which can be difficult if your site Web is a zombie computer that might disappear by the indices today, Google and the user clicks on the site). But due to the fact that the costs are very small, and there rec-effective at present, I think we will see more attacks in the close future.
